2009 Truchard Vineyards Cabernet Franc
This Cabernet Franc from Truchard Vineyards is a blend of 95% Cab Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. While this wine is a little shy at first, some time in a decanter brings out bright and welcoming aromas of plum, vanilla pipe tobacco, toast and red raspberries. The air time also wakes up the layered flavors of red raspberry, cherry, vanilla, and sweet wood that are married with very delightful tannins and a medium to long finish. This wine is drinking beautifully and should for until the turn of the decade. For such a small production, I consider this a very good value for the price.

2009 Truchard Vineyards Syrah
The 2009 Syrah from Truchard Vineyards is reminiscent of an older world style of wine. Deep red in color, the wine is a solid structure of blackberry, pepper and earthy goodness. Black cherry and blackberry are the dominant flavors, but they are restrained and the wine has firm but juicy tannins. Upon opening, aromas of ripe black and red berries combine with earth and vanilla to draw you in. I like this wine very much right now but would love to visit it again in about 5 years.
