2010 Amalaya Malbec Blend
It's not that often that I get to taste two Malbec wines within a week, and even more scarce to taste two of such great quality in that time frame. The 2010 Amalaya Malbec blend combines 75% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah and 5% Tannat in a very bright red wine with incredible red fruit aromas. In the mouth is a juicy and intense combination of red raspberries, black cherries, pepper and kitchen spices. Towards the back end of the tasting some forest floor and a small amount of tinder box come through, but not at all overpowering. This wine has incredibly soft tannins and it is drinking very well right now. With 12,000 cases imported to the US it should be easy to find and one that I think you can enjoy for a couple of years.
