2008 Longoria Pinot Noir Fe Ciega Vineyard

Decanted for approximately 50 minutes prior to tasting.  Dark ruby red in the glass with aromas of cherries and herbs on the nose.  Some sweet baking spices were also noted after the decanting period and with swirling.  In the mouth is a very rich and slightly sweet wine that presents flavors of black cherry, truffle, vanilla and the smallest amount of sweet smoked meat.  This wine is incredibly smooth and glides effortlessly across the palate to a long and satisfying retreat.  This wine has a very long life ahead of it.

2006 R&B Cellars Metronome Merlot

The 2006 Metronome Merlot from R&B Cellars is a tasty and unforgettable every day drinker for the Merlot lover.  You get a lot in this bottle - a California Merlot, low production, great taste and fantastic price!  This medium red wine is fruit forward and provides the nose with aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, spice and chocolate.  The medium weight feel on the palate is enhanced with the flavors of the dark fruits, milk chocolate, a pinch of peppery spices and seemlessly integrated lightly toasted oak.  This is a solid California Merlot and has a good 3 - 5 years of enjoyment left.
