2008 Seven of Hearts Pinot Noir Williamette Valley

This medium red 2008 Oregon Pinot Noir from Seven of Hearts is a true testament to Pinot Noir from the Pacific Northwest.  This wine has expressive aromas of cherry, raspberry, violet, rhubarb, mushroom and extra virgin olive oil.  There are well balanced flavors of bright cherry, strawberry, cinnamon, and earthiness.  The medium bodied wine balances very well on the palate and provides with a soft and subtle finish that is classically made Pinot Noir.  You will swear the wine your drinking cost twice the price!

2009 Ca'Momi Bianco di Napa White Wine

This 2009 white wine from Ca'Momi is a fruity and flavorful blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Viognier and Muscat.  This combination brings fruit flavors, zest and a medium bodied experience with aromas peach, flowers, tangerine, lemon peel and crisp green apple.  These aromas carry over in the flavors and a creamy texture is the base for a smooth and lasting finish.  Served well chilled.

2007 Ca'Momi Napa Valley Merlot

The 2007 Napa Valley Merlot from Ca'Momi Winery is a value priced and very attractive wine that will pair with a wide variety of foods.  Aromas of red raspberry, cherry, flint and some damp earth are prevalent.  This wine has a fantastic red color and the flavors of sweet plum, tart cherry, mint and earth combine for a very flavorful and enjoyable experience.  I like this wine and think it that for the price it is worth looking at.  I'd suggest drinking this 2007 vintage by the end of 2012 for the most enjoyment.

2008 Ca'Momi California Moscato

There has been a big surge in Moscato and Rose wines in recent months, and we are in the season for enjoying both.  The 2008 California Moscato from Ca'Momi Winery in Napa is a light and refreshing wine that can stand on its own as an apertif or be enjoyed with some ginger snap cookies or creamy cheesecake.  This wine is very perfumed with spring flowers, honey, melon and sweet dried spices.  It isn't overly carbonated like some Moscato are, but there are just enough bubbles to keep your interest and not detract from the creamy flavors of peach pie, vanilla custard and those lingering spices.  The price is fantastic and this wine is a real pleaser.

About Ca'Momi Winery:
Ca'Momi Winery will tell you that they craft impressive California wines at reasonable prices, and I agree!  At these prices and quality you can afford to drink a glass with every meal.

2007 Krupp Brothers The Doctor Red Wine

This 2007 vintage is a blend of Merlot (33%), Tempranillo (31%), Malbec (23%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (31%).  This wine has tons of muscle and tannins.  This aromas are well layered and provide cherries, black currant, cocoa, flint, plum and cooked persimmons.  A big full mouthfeel is persistent throughout, and flavors of plum, black fruits, pipe smoke and teriyaki cooked meats prevail with a hint of powdered cocoa and fresh garden herbs.  This wine is very powerful and complex and I think while you can enjoy it now, this one will continue to develop other flavor profiles for many years.

About Krupp Brothers:
After many obstacles were overcome, Dr Jan Krupp and his brother Bart put their first wine into bottle in 1999.  That wine was the Veraison Cabernet Sauvignon and Krupp Brothers Winery was born.  Several well established wineries have been purchasing Krupp Brothers grapes for years because of the quality and unique flavors of the vineyards.

2007 Anam Cara Cellars Pinot Noir Nicholas Estate

The 2007 Nicholas Estate Pinot Noir from Anam Cara Cellars exemplifies what Pinot Noir from the Pacific Northwest should be.  This wine is a medium to dark red subdued aromatic pleaser that lifts red raspberry, plum, cherry and black olives pleasantly to the nose.  This medium bodied wine begins and ascent of the red fruits, rhubarb, green tea and dusty earth all the way to a very well rounded and long finish.  At times you can almost detect cinnamon toast at the back of the palate.  This is really great Pinot!

About Anam Cara Cellars:
Nick and Sheila Nicholas were originally from California and Scotland and the met in London in the early 19802's.  They brought their familly to Oregon in 2001 and settled in the old orchard which would become the home of Nicholas Vineyard and Anam Cara Cellars wines.  Their winery dogs Buck and Digger greet visitors to the winery and help with gopher patrol.

2007 Stave 28 Lola Sangiovese

The 2007 Stave 28 Lola Sangiovese is a blend of 75% Sangiovese and 25% Merlot, resulting in a cherry red colored wine with intense aromas of strawberry, violet and cinamon stick.  In the mouth is a medium bodied and assertive wine with crisp acidity and flavors of strawberry, orange peel, sweet vanilla and a touch of pepper and chili powder.  All of these flavors add character to this great tasting wine and this one is a real winner.  So far I really like what I'm seeing from Michael Weyna and Stave 28!

About Stave 28:
Winemaker Michael Weyna likes that wines are never the same from vintage to vintage.  He believes that as each of us are different from year to year, so should the wine be.  He likes his wines to have personality and not be categorized.

2010 Abacela Albarino

Albarino isn't a wine that is produced by every winery in the United States, so I was very excited to have the opportunity to taste this wine.  The 2010 vintage is full of fresh fruits on the nose and in the mouth - pineapple, apple, and yellow ripe pears.  There is a floral aroma and a taste of orange creamsicle towards the end.  Sometimes there is a residual bitterness in Albarino, but you don't have any of this with this wine.  I love the fact that this is all estate grown fruit and crafted in just the manner the winemaker intended.  Most Albarino is around 11% - 12.5% ABV, and this one teters just above 13%, but it isn't a distraction at all.  I think they've done a bang up job here and this wine is a winner!

About Abacela Vineyards & Winery:

2010 Cubanisimo Vineyards Rosado de Pinot Noir

This gorgeous salmon colored wine was just released by Cubanisimo Vineyards this month.  The 2010 vintage is made from 100% estate Pinot Noir grapes and is a wine you will want for the summer!  There are defined aromas of strawberry, cherries and cranberry upfront.  The mouth is a light and crisp feel with flavors of citrus, strawberry, plum and cranberry that provide a dry and complex ending.  Don't confuse this wine with White Zinfandel!  They are not the same, and not even in the same game!  I'm thrilled that more winemakers are producing rose wines from Pinot Noir, and this one is excellent.  Tasted well chilled.

About Cubanisimo Vineyards:
The name "Cubanisimo" means very Cuban.  From the very beginning Dr. Mauricio Collada Jr and his team have focused on developing wines that focus on their heritage.

2006 Galante Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Rancho Galante

I like everything about this wine.  The color is a great ruby red and the aromas presented are dark and red berries, cigar smoke, raw leather and earth.  The flavors are presented layers of young black berries, oak, semi-sweet smoke, vanilla and black pepper.  The tannins are soft and the fruit comes through in the medium lingering finish.  I can't help but to be taken back by the gorgeous labels on the bottles, and it makes me think that if real cowboys drink wine, this is the wine they would drink!

About Galante Vineyards:
Jack Galante, proprietor of Galante Vineyards, honors his family by having this wine tasting room in Carmel.  Around 1900, Jack's great grandfather, J Frank Devendorf, and his partner Frank Powers created the town of Carmel.

2008 Pine Ridge Dijon Clones Chardonnay

This golden Chardonnay from Pine Ridge is a fine example of what a classy California Chardonnay should be.  There is just enough barrel fermentation here to provide richness and body, and this doesn't taste like an oak bomb or a stick of butter.  You get great fragrances of grapefruit, cooked pear and cinnamon apple on the nose.  In the mouth is a very full and rich wine with flavors of citrus, pear, peach, clove and homemade buttermilk biscuit.  This wine immediately grabs you and pulls you in and is balanced wonderfully.  This wine would pair well with lighter fair, but to be honest with you I think you would best enjoy this on its own merit.

2009 Pine Ridge Vineyards Forefront Sauvignon Blanc

The 2009 vintage is 100% Sauvignon Blanc and a very fresh and inviting crystal clear wine with rich aromas of citrus, honeysuckle and green tea.  In the mouth are juicy flavors of pink grapefruit, pineapple, and a hint of honeydew.  This wine was fermented sur lie to add complexity and strength on the palate.  This stainless steel fermented wine has the right balance of acidity and sweetness that provides a nice refreshing finish.
