2007 Renard Syrah - California
The 2007 vintage California Syrah from Renard is a Syrah lover's dream - great taste, silky texture and amazing price. Deep garnet color to the edge of the glass and solid aromas on the nose that include damp earth, stewed beef, blackberry, cassis, pepper and a little bit of smoke. In the mouth is a very rich tasting wine with a velvety texture and flavors of blackberry, fine leather, exotic spices, plum and just a hint of pepper. It is almost difficult to believe that someone can make such an amazing Syrah at this price point and without the 'in your face' pepper bold fruit bomb that so many others put on the market. Extremely fine tannins and luxuriously smooth.
